2006 Annual Report of Forgotten Children Homes
Returning to Home:
After the year-end vacation, the children of Savar and Dinajpur homes returned to the FC home on January 7, 2006, but very thin due to the lack of food at their homes. Our house parents suggest that the children should stay at the FC home instead of sending them to their extended families in the future.
School Admission:
After the admission exams, the children of the Savar home started attending the school located very near the FC home. Those who are too young for school stay at the FC home and our private tutor teaches them a couple of hours, 5 days a week. However, the children of the Dinajpur FC home study at the BYFC 'ANKUR' school located on the same grounds. Their school examination results were very good.
Extra Skills:
Besides regular education, the children are taught dance, songs, drawing, painting, and poetry recitation. There are teachers for each extra-curricular skill who come to the FC home once a week for several hours to help them become well-rounded individuals.
Recreation and Exposure:
Children from both FC homes had a good time in the month of February. A picnic was arranged for both homes. They visited several historical places to learn about our country and history. Also, the winners of sports and other competitions were given gifts.
Visitors:
During the picnic at the Savar, Dhaka FC, Mrs. Beth Spica and two other sisters in Christ from the USA were present in the program. In the month of March, Mr. Erik Olson and his daughter Anita came from Australia, Mr. Geoff Cragg and Steven Cragg, Rev. Byron Emmert and Ms. Angela Emmert from America, and Mr. Mike Rogers from YFC International visited the Savar FC home. Through various programs the children received the guests heartily. Children from both the homes were taken to the "children park", because there is little sports equipment at the children's homes.
Christmas:
At the end of the year, a Christmas party was arranged for the children before they went back to their homes. At both homes, a Christmas program included Christmas songs, drama, a short sermon by an invited guest, and a feast. It was a heavenly scene, and everybody was joyful for all that they had been given.
Health Care:
Special care is given to every child at the FC homes. Healthy hygienic and nutritious foods are given to them, including milk, butter, meat, fish, eggs, vegetables, and fruits. From time to time vitamins are given to them too. Every month, a FC home doctor gives them a regular health check-up.
Spiritual Care:
Besides the general education, the children of FC homes get very good spiritual care. Twice a day, all kids read and share the Bible story and pray. They attend Sunday worship services as well as Sunday school. The children are growing spiritually, educationally, and psychologically.
Your support and daily prayer is making history in such ways for each and every child in our forgotten children homes. God bless you for your awesome partnership.
School Vacation:
On December 7th the children left the FC homes for vacation, and those who do not have a place to go stayed with BYFC staff in their homes. This is the only time during the year that kids can go for vacation to spend time with their closest and dearest ones. All of them will return to the FC homes on January 7th, 2007.
Imagine yourself in a family of eight. Your father is disabled on his deathbed, completely unable to work. Rather than providing for his family, he is a burden and an expense. No one in the family gets food even once a day. The children are seriously unhealthy and malnourished. A son from the family gets a chance in the FC home. The first few months he can't digest the food he eats and he gets sick. He is given monthly treatment by the doctor of the FC home. Now, he is completely a normal and healthy, taking his food regularly and sleeping well. Besides all this, he regularly goes to church, prays, and learns to know God. Blessed be the name of Christ.
Our Thanks:
We thank God and we also are grateful to you for your help and support. We believe that your prayers and support will bring about a dream of new, honest, socially-conscious citizens and leaders in the future of Bangladesh. Thank you all.
Serving God together loving children,
Peter and Nancy Halder
